In a flat under 60 m², every piece has to earn its place. Choose low furniture that keeps sight lines open, and pieces that do two jobs.

Three rules

• Raise sofas and storage on legs so you see more floor.
• Pick one large rug instead of several small ones.
• Use wall-mounted lighting to free up surfaces.
